I came upon these little jewels after I had packed up my paint gear last summer. Literally I saw a flash of light and turned to see these guys peering out from all kinds of crazy greenery. Beautiful pieces of color everywhere. The reflection of the sky affecting everything. Warm shadows underneath it all. I thought these were cone flowers but when I researched all the cone flowers shown had many very thin petals. These flowers only had 6 or 7 petals that were wide. Anybody have a clue what kind of flower this is?
