Painting with my friends, Fling the Paint. A setup that included a silver ice bucket laid on its side with fruit pouring out. Another one with a ceramic bird vase filled with flowers.

I started with the ice bucket and fruit. Problem is I couldn't find a place to stand that set up a good design on my canvas. The other set up, same thing.

So...looked across the room and there was that fireplace with a quilt laid out in front. Quite the challenge with the dark, dark glowing background and then what about those flames?

I had enough time left to get some shapes down and color spots. I took a pic before I left and boy, after changing the photo to a B/W it showed those flames value about as far as you could get from the darkest dark.

I would have had to paint those flames white to match what the photo showed me. So glad I was standing right in front of it when painting the fire.

I could not get a decent pic of the painting. Glare! Tried all kinds of angles with the lighting. This is as good as I could get it, darn it! The pic does nothing to show the depth of color in the painting.
