Painting with Lucyna in my studio tonight. Lucyna is an avid bird watcher. She brought some photos of a Heron she was stalking (hah) earlier this week. I usually work on a piece that's up on my easel but tonight I decided to pull out a 12" x 6" panel and play with one of her photos. The day Lucyna took the pics was overcast, grey and gloomy. The photo almost all black and white, barely allowing any color to show up. Just vague sienna/oranges in the brush up on the hill above the heron. That allowed me to easily play with the color. Staying within a very monochromatic theme of sienna and oranges adding just a suggestion of blues/lavenders in the Heron, rocks and snow brought the scene alive. @sheilamarieart
