I started this painting as a grisaille using burnt sienna with a bit of orange. As I started applying the color I was really liking the effect of the burnt sienna in the background. I decided not to paint the full color palette into the background. The grisaille felt a little heavy so once it dried I sanded and erased the background to even the overall color out. I accentuated the outline around the perimeter of the shapes. I've painted a smaller canvas of this same image in full color. I'll post tomorrow.
