I was drawn by the strong contrast of the cottonwood against the dark sky of a stormthat had just passed. The scene was front lit so the tree glowed. I stayed with a limited palette of ultramarine blue, alizarin, yellow ochre and viridian. I used a canvas that I had prepped with a heavy coat of orange paint. I had purposely left randomly placed strong brushstrokes. Included is a pic where the colors are pretty darn close to the painting but you can't see those heavy brushstrokes. The second pic the brushstrokes can be seen but there' s quite a bit of glare and the colors, particularly the sky are too dark. @sheilamarieart I was drawn by the strong contrast of the cottonwood against the dark sky of a stormthat had just passed.
