Media: acrylic on stretched canvas
Size: 11x14 in
This still life was the first use of the "light box" arrangement in my bedroom. It was also my first attempy at still life composition and one of my first attempts at photographing a painting to list on the internet. I have thought about rephotographing it, but I like the way the glare from the light in the photo accentuates where the brightest light actually was coming from in the setup. Tends to add to the picture, I think. Of course, since I painted this in 2018 and I still have not sold it, I am probably mistaken about that. I will let you decide. Title: Buck 54 Size: 11 inches tall x 14 inches wide Artist: Gregory Cross Date Painted: October 25, 2018. Description: This is an original acrylic still life of three penny rolls and four loose pennies. Materials: It was painted with Blick acrylics on an Artisit Loft quality stretched canvas. The painting is varnished with Golden water based satin finish varnish. Notes: The painting is signed G Cross on the front, and has the artist's full signature, painting number, and the date it was painted on the back. Please understand colors may vary between the actual painting and the digital image on your screen due to my digital camera's results and your monitor's settings. Artist note: My artwork has been liked by Danny Trejo, the movie and voice actor; by the movie actress Holly Horner; by the famous Japanese artist and teacher Harumichi Shibasaki; the famous artist and art teacher Malcolm Dewey; by the Belgian rock band Blackbriar; the Hungarian rock band Metalwings; the Brazilian rock band Darkship; and by YouTube personalty and artist Liron Yanconsky. Gregory Cross has had paintings on exhibit at the San Antonio Public Library, Bihl Haus Art Gallery, and at the Elvira Cisneros Senior Center Annual Exhibit (now for the third year in a row). He also was one of the artists who painted the 60 foot x 6 foot San Antonio Tricentennial Mural. Art critics have described his work as surrealistic but with the charm of the everyday; full of visual surprises with anti-gravity, wittiness, and irony. He has been interview by KENS 5 TV and the San Antonio Express News. His paintings have sold in many countries. This still life was the first use of the "light box" arrangement in my bedroom.
