Lonely Scottish shieling cottage at Skye is an acrylic landscape painting I created on May 1, 2020. I have an interest in Scotland because my mother's family originally came from there and my grandfather was a kilt wearing member of Clan Gordon. I remember my mother singing Scottish folk songs to me when I was a baby. Here is a scene involving a cottage that is called s shieling or shealing often used in the wild places. Out where there was no one and nothing anywhere around. So, lonely is an apt term for this type of ancient dwelling. It was constructed totally from local materials, also known as vernacular architecture. The painting's title is "The Shieling" and is painted with Golden heavy body acrylics on a 10 inches tall x 8 inches wide x .75 inche thick Blick Premiere stretched cotton canvas. The frame is a black Ambiance wood gallery frame which is 11.25 inches tall x 9.25 inches wide x 1.5 inches deep. The frame has hanging hardware already attached and it will be ready to hang when you receive it. I usually ship a painting the next business day after your purchase but please allow me 2 days handling just in case. Though I try very hard to get the colors in the photos as close to the actual painting as I can, they may still be slightly different from the physical painting. Digital cameras don't pick up certain colors very well and often change the look of a painting slightly. So, understand that the photos are edited. Thank you for taking the time to view my painting and read this description.
