Media: Soft and hard pastel on textured hardboard, fixed surface
Size: 6x8 in
I used black gesso and loose marble dust to create the surface to paint this work on. I usually use a neutral beige base treated with a textured pastel primer product to privide a toothy surface to hold the pastel pigments. I used the black gesso to create and amplify the darkly saturated colors of this painting. This technique is new to me and I'm pleased with the outcome.
