I like the boldness of the cone of the White Pine. It's painted to scale. The scales spiral around in 9 to 10 rounds, and from the top each scale slightly overlaps the scale below it, moving clockwise towards its bottom tip. The pine seeds are hidden beneath each scale until they leave the cone, shaken loose by animals, wind, or gravity. This cone is from the Adirondack Mts. in upstate New York.
