Media: professional watercolor on stretched canvas. 3/4" depth,
Size: 8x10 in
Most watercolors I paint are on archival paper. This painting is on canvas which has been primed with watercolor ground, a substance that prepares any survacee to accept watercolor pigment. This surface behaves differently than untreated paper that pigments flows like crazy when applied to a wetted surface. I used a hairdryer to to speed up drying so colors would atay inplace and not run into adjacent colors. The ground allow dried color to be easily lifted and heavily painted areas to be lightened. It's a surface tha takes getting used to.
