This flower is common through the US, very colorful and inviting to paint. It survives harsh climates, due in part to it's long tap root. The geometry of its center is based upon the two opposing spirals which deserver a separate painting. Botanical painting gives me opportunity to observe the order of nature, how living things are structured. Painting life accurately is an amazing journey of new understanding.
