Size: 8x6 in
Portrait Deliberate Practice Series 101/250. PENDE MAN, 6" x 8", Oil on board. 101- is like starting afresh, I'm excited, more faces to paint and lots of lessons to learn. I'll be starting a streamed life session of how I go about painting these little pieces, let's know if you'll be interested. Also if you'll love to be part of this series send me a direct message- the only deal is that the finished piece must be for sale.
This is a portrait of a PENDE man painted from a black and white photograph taken by the legendary
Casimir Zagourski, who was a pioneering photographer of Central African peoples and customs. When painting from a Black & White photograph, one has the liberty to create colours that don't exist as far as the colours match the tones of the photo.I just love the unique hair style and particularly his eyes, these are the main reason I was drawn to paint this face.I painted this with the inside-out technique all with Winsor & Newton Oil colours, no diluting, no mediums, just the juicy oil colour straight from the tube.
