Portrait Deliberate Practice Series 133/250 (7). "PRINCE ARNOLD II", 12" x 16" Oil on Board.
This started off as a demo as I showed how darks, middle tones and lights can quickly produce a three dimensional head. I finished the sketch, painting alongside the students today at the Open Studio, at Heatherleys. I'll be teaching there for the next two weeks- Tuesday and Thursday. Contact Heatherley School of Fine Art, Chelsea, if you interested in participating. I dressed him up today like an Arab, inspired by Sargent Arab. I had to get an 18 metre long cotton strip to tie that head piece after many tutorials on YouTube. I used the outside-in technique to paint this piece.
