In this painting the sun is setting over Greer's Ferry Lake, a reservoir made by the U.S. Corps of Engineers damming the Little Red River in northern Arkansas. The location is about 60 miles north of Little Rock.The lake surface area is about 40,000 acres. David Smith who lives in the nearby village of Heber Springs provided the reference photograph.
