In my watercolor classes this year we are painting a collection of small watercolor paintings depicting the indigenous birds of Tennessee. The owl felt appropriate for October. The first painting I created included the entire bird, horns to tail, and I liked it, but felt it may be a bit complicated for brand new students, so I created this portrait version to use as reference painting in class.
