The John Oliver historical cabin in Cades Cove was built by the family of John and Lucretia Oliver, who were the original owners of the cabin and were the first permanent white settlers in Cades Cove when they moved to Cades Cove in the 1820s. It was built as the Honeymoon cabin for their first-born son. (Their cabin sat about 50 yards behind this one.) The cabin is held together by gravity and notched corners – it does not need pegs or nails to hold it together. Cades Cove is one of my many "happy places" on the planet.
