Today I painted a Tennessee Pileated Woodpecker as the reference painting for a couple of upcoming watercolor classes in February. I feel the painting of the woodpecker on a tree stump captures the serene beauty of Tennessee's forests and evokes a range of emotions, from wonder and awe to serenity and connection. It's a heartfelt tribute to my state's natural world and its enduring charm, reminding me to not only enjoy the little darlings feeding outside my window on the black oil sunflower seeds I left to them, but to make time today to take a walk so I can also see them in their homes along the Duck River and the Riverwalk.
