The stories this cabin could tell. It originated at Rattle and Snap, also known as the George Polk-Granbery house in Mt. Pleasant, TN, and was inhabited by enslaved people who worked in both the fields and the house. In the late nineteenth century, the cabin was moved to Granbery Manor, another property owned by the family north of Brentwood, Tennessee in southern Davidson county. The family also owned a third home nearby called Travellers Rest, aka Golgotha. It was at Granbery, now owned by Kristie Barnett, The Decorologist, where my class and I were invited to spend the day and paint during the scary and isolating time of the Covid Lockdown in spring of 2020. This piece was painted on location en plein air. The stories this cabin could tell. It originated at Rattle and Snap, also known as the George Polk-Granbery house in Mt.
