So many of my students want to copy other artists work which I strongly discourage them from doing, no matter how enticing it may be. So you can imagine their surprise when I planned for a month of "studies." Louis Abel-Truchet is a French impressionist painter from the late 19th/early 20th century. I had never heard of him before but was pleasantly surprised when I ran across his work while researching impressionist painters. Instead of making a study of the complete painting of "Le Dejeuner au Jardin," we are painting three compositions inspired by this painting. Here is the first.
