My heart and soul live among the American Impressionists of the early 20th century. I love their style, subject matter, raison d'etre. This year I'm leading my students through all the reasons to love the American Impressionists and on occasion will be painting studies of their works. Here is a sample. It is my study and class demonstration of a Childe Hassam painting from 1904 titled Sand Springs Butte, most likely painted in Idaho while living there and working on a large commission.
