In Creative Spirits painting class we are studying "wonky" paintings. I have several students, both new and old, who stress over drawing photo perfect block-ins. And though I think this is admirable, especially if their own creative spirits are telling them to paint photo-realism, I wan them to learn that painting is joyful, fun, creative, colorful, and full of delight. Not stress and self-loathing. I find wonky paintings beautiful, even more so than their photo-realistic counterparts. Raise a glass to Wonky Paintings! And enjoy my class demonstration painting.
